DIY Harry Potter Series – Dumbledore, McGonagall and Draco Malfoy

My next attempt at creating more HP characters after Harry, Ron and Hermione was to make a Dumbledore, McGonagall and Draco Malfoy.  McGonagall looks a little severe but that’s only because she is next to Draco 😛

You will need:

  1. 3 Christmas balls (same size)
  2. Acrylic Paints: (I used Apple Barrel paints)
    • Sunkissed Peach (skin tone)
    • Grey
    • White
    • Green
  3. Sharpie Marker – Black
  4. Green Felt Sheet (available at any craft store)
  5. Scissors and Pencil
  6. Light Beige Yarn (for Draco’s hair)
  7. Elmer’s Glue
  8. Hot glue gun
  9. Mod Podge – Gloss

What to do?

  1. Paint the 3 ornaments with SunKissed peach and let dry for 20 minutes. Add 1 or 2 more layers to evenly cover the ornament.
  2. Use a pencil to lightly draw the details (eyes, mouth, brows, glasses, hair etc) for all 3 ornaments as well as a line going around the bottom of the Draco ornament for the Slytherin scarf. Add alternating lines to form strips.
    • For Dumbledore: Color his hair and beard white, use a black sharpie to pen in the glasses. Use grey paint to paint his hat.

    • For McGonagall: Use the black sharpie to draw in her eyes. Cut a square of the green felt into a leaf like shape and cut the leaf down the middle.
    • Use hot glue to stick one of the halves on one side of her head. Repeat this step until you get a small hat like shape on her head.Use grey paint to highlight her eyebrows and her mouth. Fill in her eyes and use a dark grey for her hair.

  • For Draco: Cut the yarn into little pieces. Use Elmer’s glue to attach each strip to the ornament (this will be Draco’s hair). Let the glue dry and add more strips till you have a nice, uniform layer.

Use the white paint to highlight the eye socket and the black sharpie to draw slanting eyeballs. Use grey to highlight the brows and mouth. Paint alternating strips of grey and green for the Slytherin scarf.

And there you go. Three more characters to add to your tree 🙂
