Tip Tuesday: Cinnamon For Gum Health

cinnamon-stick-514243_1920Today’s tip of the day:

Chewing a small piece of cinnamon once a week improves gum health.

Cinnamon has anti-bacterial properties and can help reduce gum inflammation and tooth decay. Simply cut a small piece (1/2 inch) and chew. Let the juices from the stick coat your gums for a few seconds before swallowing.

If the stick is too raw and spicy to chew, you can make a tea instead.

  • Put 2-3 broken cinnamon sticks in a cup of water.
  • Let the water boil for 2-3 mins and then simmer gently for 10 mins.
  •  You can drink this brew directly or add a little honey to make it sweet.
