Champion of Recycling – Eggo House

This is a post on a recycling effort by building a giant Eggo house using old egg cartons. Australia based ‘Goldenhen’ built a life-size home called ‘The Original Dream’, the first egg carton home modeled after Howard Arkley’s painting, Family Home: Suburban Exterior 1993, which is considered the Australian dream of suburban living.

The cartons are colored and then stacked together to build the home, similar to building with Legos. Underneath all the cartons is a simple wood frame structure that provides a foundation for the cartons. Also built were a red brick yard fence, a cricket pitch, an outdoor clothes drying rack, and lots of grass made out of egg trays. All of this took the designers six straight sleepless nights to build.
