As part of my ongoing ornament exchange with other HP lovers across the world, I decided to make a Mini Skiving Snackbox for a ‘Anything Weasley Themed‘ month. A very easy DIY made from recyclable materials.
Materials
- A small, open-able square box (I was lucky enough to have a bunch of mini boxes saved from different packages).
- Acrylic paints – Brick red, Forest Green, Bright Teal, Orange, Yellow, Brown, Purple, Pale Blue, Red
- Small pieces of styrofoam or wooden pieces
- Scissors, Hot Glue, Matte Mod Podge
- Skiving Snack Labels from Google (these are the ones I used; Skiving Snack Labels)
- Assorted Weasley Wheezes logo labels (A Google search will yield multiple images)
- Ribbon (preferably orange or red)
Process
- Paint the outside of your entire box brick red and let dry. Use 2 coats.
- Paint the inside of the top of your box forest green and the inside of the bottom teal and let dry.
- Cut out the snack labels and stick one on each side of the bottom inner section with mod podge.
- To create the snacks, use small pieces of styrofoam in different shapes. The box consists of 4 main sweets.
- For the puking pastilles, I used old wooden pieces and painted them half orange and half purple, based on the description.
- For nosebleed nougat, I painted small irregular shaped pieces of styrofoam a light blue and added purple and orange dots on each half.
- The fever fudge were slightly longer pieces of styrofoam painted brown with green dots all over.
- Lastly, the fainting fancies were also styrofoam painted half orange and half yellow.
- If you have more space in your box, you can make a few more pieces of candy like U-No-Poo pills painted green or Rainbow Drops.
- Arrange the sweets the way you like them inside the box, making sure everything fits neatly and hot glue everything in place.
- To the outside of the box, stick some Weasley Wheezes labels with mod podge (I printed a ‘W’ logo, a ‘Patent / Made by Weasley’ sticker and a ‘Skiving Snackbox’ label).
- After closing the box, add some orange / red ribbon with a huge bow on top to complete the look.
I love the detailing – and that you included “snacks” for the box.
