DIY Harry Potter Series – Molly Weasley Inspired ‘Knitting Supplies’ Ornament

Hello y’all :). Hope everyone is well.

As part of my on going Harry Potter exchange on FB, I have to make a Molly Weasley themed mini ornament. When I think of her, I think sweaters. But I’m really bad at sewing / knitting, and decided to make an ornament with knitting supplies, of which I have a lot. I’m not sure why I have so many balls of yarn or needles when I don’t really know how to use them…. at least this is a good start.

  1. Small balls of yarn or felt ( I got a whole bag from Michaels for $1).
  2. Assorted needles ( I used beading needles, eye pins and regular threading needles)
  3. Hot glue gun
  4. For the base: Any old jar’s lid
  5. Twine / thread

  1. Collect your balls of yarn and needles to go with each ball. I used 2 needles / ball and mixed up colors. Silver toned needles were used with blue and green balls, and gold for purple and red.
  2. Stick the needles to form an X through the ball. Repeat for all.
  3. Arrange how you would like the balls to look on your lid. Once satisfied, start gluing everything down. For all exposed needle tips, I used a small drop of hot glue to seal the end, to prevent poking.
  4. Finally, add 2 drops of hot glue on either side of the lid and attach twine, for hanging.
  5. Optional: I glued a little note to my lid with ‘What we wouldn’t do to get a hand knit jumper from Mrs. Weasley‘.

And your ornament is READY 🙂 Enjoy.
