DIY Harry Potter Series – ‘Lumos’ glow-in-the-dark lamp

I had a blue wine bottle that I recycled into a ‘Lumos’ lamp that glows up in the dark. An easy and quick DIY when you have 2 hours to spare.

You will need:

  • 1 old glass bottle
  • Glow-in-the-dark paint
  • A print out of the word Lumos in the HP font
  • A knife, paint brushes and painters tape
  • Optional: A long LED candle to fit inside the bottle

What you do:

  1. Wash the outside of the bottle and thoroughly dry it.
  2. Print Lumos on a paper and carefully cut it out with the knife to create a stencil.
  3. Tape the stencil around the bottle and paint over it with the glow paint (I used 3 coats). Let everything dry.Untitled
  4. This is how the paint looks after it is dry.IMG_E0665
  5. Carefully remove the stencil and leave the bottle in front of a light source for 10-15 minutes.
  6. Take the bottle to a dark location and see your bottle light up. IMG_E0666
  7. Optional step: You can place the candle inside the bottle for sometime instead of leaving a light on for the paint to get activated.
